Our development engineers work at the cutting edge of laser and control technology and help shape future trends. This field of activity is particularly varied. It ranges from comprehensive system developments through the technical interface definition to the varied application development. With our products, we set new standards in human-machine communication and pave the way for intelligent manufacturing. 
We constantly break new ground in our in-house laser and robot laboratories, which are equipped with the latest technology. With the intelligent combination of handling equipment (such as robots), laser beam sources, laser deflection units and state-of-the-art sensors, we test the leap from the idea to the finished industrial solution. Our product development therefore becomes an 'enabler' for entire technology branches, currently for example for fuel cell technology and electro-mobility. 
The interdisciplinary teams, consisting of software, hardware, optics, control and sensor experts, work on the manufacturing technologies of tomorrow, while also keeping an eye on major social issues such as the mobility and energy transition as well as resource conservation. 

The production is the heart of our company. Almost all products are manufactured here and put through their paces. The processes are transparent for all colleagues and thus allow a comprehensive view of the entire value chain. The manufacturing team at Blackbird is also the 'string puller' in the true sense of the word.

Thanks to close cooperation with R&D, we are actively shaping the future of laser technology, developing new fields of application, and can react quickly to new market requirements. The in-house laser laboratories guarantee application tests under industrial conditions.

As an integral part of the team, our service engineers are the direct link between our innovative products and our international customers. The know-how and customer feedback make customer service the perfect sparring partner for R&D and product management. 

The day-to-day job offers a varied range of activities, including assignments at customer sites as well as exciting tasks at the Garching site. In the process, our service technicians accompany system commissioning, the development and testing of new products and system features in our laser laboratories, and regularly conduct training courses for users. The service team also looks after the spare parts business and preventive maintenance tasks. Despite all this, travel is usually less than 50 percent, with a manageable amount of long-distance travel.
